Yard of the Month May 2025
Congratulations to Micky and Jenn Oldham at 6012 Junius for winning Yard of the Month for May in the Junius Heights Historic District!
The Oldhams moved into this stunning 1910 Prairie-style home in August 2023. Originally from Louisiana, they’ve lived in various East Dallas neighborhoods since the early 2000s.
Their shared love of historic homes made it practically love at first sight when they first saw its welcoming front porch. Jenn says the house “had good mojo” and knew it was the perfect home for their family. They also felt connected to the laid-back, welcoming vibe of the neighborhood.
Their family includes their son, Max; daughter, Marley; and their beloved pets—Turbo the Boxer and their cat named Dottie.
Micky, who loves getting his hands in the dirt, leads the landscaping efforts, with Jenn, Max and Marley contributing to the planting and planning. Over the past few months, they’ve transformed their front yard into a lush oasis by incorporating Texas native plants like Salvia, Autumn Sage, Texas Sage, Rosemary, Chinese Fringe Flower, Yucca, and various grasses. The beautifully curated space flourishes under the shade of a majestic Pecan tree.
In the backyard, they’ve added a pollinator garden, raised vegetable beds, and a serene fern garden near the patio—creating a peaceful retreat that harmonizes with nature.
Thank you, Micky and Jenn, for your dedication to creating a beautiful landscape and showcasing yet another shining example of the natural charm that makes Junius Heights so special!
