Homeless May be Sleeping in Area Dumpsters

On Wednesday, March 18, a thin, white or Hispanic male wearing a red baseball cap and a vest was reported snooping around a courtyard on Reiger. When a local resident arrived, the man immediately fled. It may be the same person who is homeless and has been sleeping in area dumpsters. Sleeping in dumpsters is dangerous. The machines that pick up dumpster have been known to crush sleeping victims. If you see any such activity, please call 911.

Illegal Parking by Area Business

Cars getting tires repaired at the tire shop at the corner of Beacon and Columbia sometimes illegally park in the alley. An area resident recently called 911 to report the illegal parking and the police quickly responded. Alleys are for emergency access, not for the parking of cars.

Burglaries of Motor Vehicles

  • March 18, Wednesday, two vehicles in the 5900 block of Worth had their windows broken and items stolen.

  • On Thursday, March 12, a vehicle in the 500 block of Lowell was vandalized

Stolen Electricity

On Tuesday, March 17, the police determined that suspects in the 5800 block of Reiger “intentionally appropriated and consumed electricity of an undetermined valued” by an “inappropriate electrical connection.,” i.e., they stole electricity. Not only is this illegal, it is very dangerous.

Drug Paraphernalia found

Drug paraphernalia was found in the 600 block of Ridgeway on Thursday, April 19. No further details are available.

Hot Spot: Vehicles Burglarized in Junius Heights

There seems to be surge in vandalisms of vehicles in our neighborhood. Six cars have been reported vandalized in the space of three days.

  • On Sunday, November 9, a window was broken in a vehicle parked in the 5100 block of Worth and items were stolen.,
  • On Monday, November 10, a vehicle was burglarized in the 5800 block of Reiger. The window of a jeep was broken and items were stolen.
  • On Monday, the night of November 10, the front passenger window of a car parked in the driveway in the 700 block of Skillman was broken. The thief (thieves) stole a cheap pair of sunglasses and less than $2.00 in change.
  • On Monday, November 10, the front passenger window of a vehicle parked in the 5900 block of Worth was broken and items were stolen.
  • On Tuesday, November 11, windows was broken on two vehicles parked in the 5100 block of Victor and items were stolen.

House on Victor Robbed

Over Halloween weekend, a house in the 5500 block of Victor was robbed. The thief or thieves broke in the back door after failing to open the front door. The robbers took a laptop computer, shotguns, and a mountain bike.
