The Crime Watch organization works in partnership with the Home Owners organization, however we are currently separately funded. The contributions sent to PO BOX 140283 Dallas TX, 75214, go to pay for the Off Duty Patrol Program, which our organization schedules and does not fund any Home Owners agendas. Therefore, if you wish to contribute to the Off Duty Patrol Program, (and we would love it if you did!) please send your money addressed to JHCW, to the PO Box above.

What we do: We help reduce crime in our area by using your contributions to hire tenured Police Officers, using Police vehicles, during their off duty hours, to schedule added patrols for our area.

We schedule these patrols based on incoming funds. These Officers monitor loitering, watch for suspicious activity, make arrests, talk with neighbors.

Why this is necessary: In a perfect world, the Dallas Police Department would have enough officers patrolling our neighborhood that this would never be necessary. However, with the number of officers and way crime is currently, we feel this is a huge necessity to hire Off Duty Patrols.

How much do I contribute: The suggested donation is $30.00 per month but is really whatever you can afford. Some folks pay annually, bi annually, per quarter, etc, it is free form.

Where does my money go: One patrol is roughly $200.00. Other than periodic office supplies, your money goes to pay for these patrols. The CW is strictly volunteer, no one gets a paycheck except the Off Duty Officer.

Why regular Contributions are needed: We try to secure the most tenured Police officers, and Officers who are familiar with our special area. Each year, we must pledge our annual commitment hours in order to secure an officer, the patrol car and the best price for that.

During regularly scheduled shifts, our ODP Officer is provided a list of current contributors, any messages and report numbers, for follow up during his shift.

When we fail to gain enough income to hire regular patrols, our Officers may leave to find other work and not be available when requested. Think of your monthly, quarterly or annual payments to the Watch as insurance premiums toward a safer better and reduced crime year!

Who do I call when I have a problem: Report it by calling 911 and asking for the Expediter Unit. Once you have the report number, please email the Watch with it and the details. The report number is important for our officer to follow up on. Without it, he cannot do his job properly.

In addition to paying monthly dues, please sign up your REWARDS card today for donations to the Watch. Our number is 9577. The amounts we receive are paid to us on a quarterly basis after they reach a certain dollar amount. While this program will not make the Watch rich, if we ALL sign up for this, we will be able to keep this valued program, show community spirit and earn more with this program to help off set our bills. Please sign up the next time you do your Safeway-Tom Thumb grocery shopping.

Thanks again for your contributions and for being a great neighbor!

Cheers! Michael and Suzanne O’Brien
